Admissions

Applications for primary school places are managed centrally by Sheffield Local Authority, not by staff at the school.

Full details about the admissions, application and appeals process for Sheffield schools can be found on the Sheffield City Council website via the link below. Please note that the closing date for admissions into the 2020 Reception class is 15th January 2020.

Children born between 1st September 2015 and 31st August 2016 will be eligible for a place at school in September 2020.

The application window closes in January for starting school the following September. In April, you are informed about your child's allocated school place. This may or may not be one of your three preferences.

By law a child must be in full-time education from the beginning of the term after their 5th birthday but parents do have some flexibility in deciding when their child will start reception.

The options are as follows:

• All 4 year old children can start in reception class in the September after their 4^thbirthday.
• Parents may defer their child’s admission into reception until the January or April, depending on their date of birth.
• If you choose to defer, your child continues to be entitled to free early learning (15 hours or 30 hours per week, term time) at a childcare provider of your choice. You should discuss your decision with the school and your child’s childcare provider where this is relevant.
